Sustainability

Gem Diamonds’ dedication to sustainable development includes commitments to health, safety, Corporate Social Responsibility and the environment (collectively HSSE).

Gem Diamonds’ HSSE policies include:

  • minimising risk to persons, assets and the environments in which the Group operates;
  • fostering mutual respect and establishing long-term and sustainable relationships between the Company and surrounding communities; and
  • ensuring that the Company will make a sustainable contribution to the countries and communities affected by its operations.

To this end, Gem Diamonds has formed an HSSE Committee. The Committee assists the Board in developing framework policies and guidelines for the management of sustainable development issues and ensures their implementation within the Company.

The HSSE Committee, which comprises non-executive directors, executive directors, and appropriate members of management, meets formally at least three times a year.
