Lubembe

The Lubembe project comprises 22 concessions on the Tshiumbe and Lubembe Rivers. The area was previously prospected in some detail with small alluvial mines established. Extensive artisanal mining has been in place throughout the area.

At Nsumbula, alluvial diamond sampling using river dredging in the Lubembe river yielded positive grade results of approximately 8 ct/m³. However, the nature of the deposit in the river beds, combined with the high level of overburden makes a safe and effective mass mining technique a matter for considerable study.

Lubembe hosts a number of geophysical anomalies and stream sediment sampling has produced a significant population of kimberlite indicator minerals. A kimberlite exploration programme including drilling of geophysical anomalies is ongoing.
